The Sewing Bee

Last night was the first episode of The Sewing Bee and I loved it! Basically it's like the Great British Bake Off but with people sewing. The first item they made was an A line skirt. They were then given a white top to alter the neckline on. The last task was to make a dress. It was brilliant. I desperately want to make a skirt now but I will stick with finishing the Christmas advent calendar. I will need to get the sewing machine out which will start me off. I'd just love a spare room to put all my craft stuff in so I could come and go as I please. The kitchen table is great but at some point it has to be cleared away and then sometimes I find it doesn't come out again.

Finally a warm day

At last today the sun was shining enough for me to start some gardening. I don't mind a spot of cold gardening but with all the snow we've had lately the ground has been too hard to dig. My first job was cutting the grass. It really wasn't that long but it just neatness things up. I also re-edged the lawn. Next step was general tidying. I'm still having a battle with elder weed. It's grown around and into some shrubs- I think my only option will be to remove the plant altogether. All in all I'm pleased with my two hours labour and now I don't feel so bad about not going to the gym. I also now have a massive bag of cuttings to recycle. I could perhaps start using the composter again? I've not had much luck with those in the past- the compost just sits there. I'll have a think. Our seeds are dong well- we've planted sweet peas, larkspur, mini sweet corn and peppers. My trailing fuschia is still growing on the windowsill, I just need to find it a larger pot. Tomorrow we will be baking chocolate brownies. Currently surrounded by chocolate eggs of all descriptions but a bit more won't hurt! Vx
